Invitation to the Second Meeting
of the Asia Forest Partnership Dear Sir/Madam, The Asia Forest Partnership (AFP) is a regional forum for cooperation involving various governments, non-governmental organizations, and private business. The partnership aims to promote sustainable forest management in Asia by addressing urgent issues including illegal logging, forest fires, and rehabilitation of degraded forest areas. At the First Meeting of AFP held on 1 November 2002, in Tokyo, Japan, it was agreed that Indonesia should host the next meeting. I have the honor to inform you that the government of Indonesia in collaboration with the Government of Japan, CIFOR (Center for International Forestry Research), and the Nature Conservancy will convene the Second Meeting of AFP on 9-10 July 2003 at Hyatt Hotel, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The purpose of the meeting is to build strong and mutual partnership to develop concrete and coordinated approaches towards the achievement of sustainable forest management in the Asia region.
