Shuichi Miyabe, Japan Forest Technology Association (JAFTA)

What I expect for AFP is something East-Asia-specific. The AFP’s strongest advantage would be its locality, which the partners belong to and can share resources. I am looking forward to finding such ideas in the AFP's activities.

Wisnu Prastowo, Embassy of Indonesia in Japan

We do hope that the concrete actions could be implemented within solid cooperation among the AFP members and stakeholders, in a constructive manner, in order to strengthen the AFP and to accelerate the achievement of SFM. As it is commonly happened in such a kind of partnership, inadequate financial support would be the most significant impediment in optimally implementing our activities. Therefore, fund raising program should be taken into consideration in our future discussion. In addition, awareness among members regarding the flow of illegal timber and timber products into the market should also become the basic spirit to combat illegal logging. There is always a voice that illegal logging is a domestic issue; however combating the flow of illegal forest products entering regional or international market would be ineffective without any strong and solid cooperation among both producer and consumer countries.
