based schemes to highly specific products tailored for particular market or
client.
- Major requirements are clear brief on scope of work from
client & legal frame-work in which to operate.
Inter-Government
Indonesia UK MoU
- Process of building consensus and understanding of objectives &
workplans developed 9 objectives
- Level of progress on the ground has led to framework for implementation
is nearly in place
Organization of Illegal Logging Component
There was a presentation on the way the different elements &
initiatives could be brought together within a structure to assist coordination
and identify gaps in current overall work.
On-going & Proposed Workplans
The session had 3 workplans to consider:
Customs work
There was general agreement that current work has raised
important issues.
Inputs & Suggestions
Ensure closer linkage to customs authorities -
- Partners to help identify key contact points within
different countries
- Russia may join the countries within the remit of the work
- Keep output simple for non-forest audience
LEI & MTCC Proposals
- Early stages of development, focus not yet totally clear
- Potential for combining the 2 proposals
- Ensure design & outputs fit with global systems and
requirements
Development & Design
- A working group is to meeting combine the proposals and
identify management
- It should consist of stakeholders from 5 key areas
- To be in KL within the next few months
Strengthen the Partnership
- The proposal coming from Producer countries should link to
Consumer countries
- In the afternoon session a link with the FOE Japan proposal
was suggested.
