This year we will have only eight Learning Events. We encourage you to submit an application form for an exhibition booth or poster display, to ensure that Forest Day 3 enables as many stakeholders as possible to share their knowledge. 27-29 May 2009, Bali, Indonesia The dialogue was hosted by the Indonesian government in collaboration with CIFOR with financial contributions from the governments of Japan and Switzerland and the USAID RAFT-TNC Program, GTZ, the EC-Indonesia FLEGT Support Project, WRI, IGES and DFID. AFP dialogues are open events, designed to encourage discussion about key forest issues, rather than build consensus. This year more than 250 participants attended, including politicians, scientists, aid workers and law enforcement specialists. more

Tough policy issues surrounding the global timber trade were again under the spotlight recently, as forestry experts from around the world gathered in Hanoi to attend the Asia Forest Partnership’s Dialogue on Timber Trade, Forest Law Compliance and Governance. As one of the highlight events at Asia Pacific Forestry Week in Vietnam, the AFP Dialogue brought together over 500 forestry stakeholders to discuss sustainability in the trade of timber and forest products, and to develop strategies for success in an increasingly regulated environment. more
